Mahautsav was a grand celebration of a significant cultural festival, Diwali, that is celebrated among many communities.
Toronto proud to host 30 hours concert by Bollywood Stars and Singers at Rogers Centre - Mayor
TORONTO, Oct. 7 /CNW/ - Rogers Centre will be home to the longest running Indoor festivities in the world for 30 hours starting October 9th at 5:30 PM to the Grand finale on Oct.10th at 11:30 PM.

172 renowned Bollywood performers from India and the UK will fly to Toronto to perform in the concert and take a run to set a new world record as the longest continuous running indoor festival in the world when festivities begin at the Toronto's Rogers Centre . "Mahautsav" (literally meaning the Biggest festival) celebrating Diwali the festival of lights will feature dozens of Bollywood headliners. Fourteen of the Biggest names of Indian Tinseltown along with dozens of dancers will perform a 3 hour bollywood dance show "Heartthrobs" which is having its World premiere at the festival.

"Toronto is proud to host Mahautsav. This concert is happening here because Toronto is one of the world's truly multicultural cities and a centre of excellence for music and culture. Our doors are open to the people of the world to live, visit and invest." said Mayor David Miller.

The festival is co-presented by Harpreet Sethi's Radisson Plaza Hotel and Roger Nair Productions (RNP).

"We look forward to Diwali festivities in India all year.We thought its time we create awareness about Diwali and bring the fun to Toronto." said Harpreet Sethi

The festival also features North American premiere of the film Quick Gun Murugun on Oct.9th, a hilarious english language spoof from Bollywood on Hollywood,The festival is budgeted at about 2 million dollars and the audiences from around Canada and USA will attend.The inexpensive ticket prices start at $5 for single entry and $25 for multiple entry to enable everyone to come out and enjoy the show.

"In India, Caribbean and many other countries Diwali is celebrated with as much enthusiasm as Christmas, Mahautsav brings Diwali to Toronto and to all of North America. We now have a new fun festival in fall that we can look forward to each year in Toronto." said Toronto based film maker Roger Nair.

An evening to create general awareness about cardiac problems.Event was organised by the Nitu Mandke Foundation. Also present, in the front row,was Dr Mandke' s most well-known patient, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.

About 15,000 people o attended the charity event, which marks the near-completion of the city's first super-speciality heart hospital, built by the Mandke Foundation, in Andheri.

Filmstars, politicians, industrialists and members of the medical fraternity all was there -
Dr Mandke said, "I believe that hospitals should shape up as per the doctors' ideas and corporates should be involved in funding them. Because then we can visualise the needs of our patients and their relatives in a better way."

The 400-bedded super-speciality centre, spread over 17 floors, will have eight operating rooms, 34 intensive care beds and 24 step-down intermediate care beds.
